Due to lack of time I have to close down the XTrackCAD project. Files will be available
for download via the above link, but the wiki and all other activities are halted.
Contact m_fischer at users dot sf dot net if you're interested in taking over the project.
XTrackCAD is a CAD program for designing model railroad layouts.
Using it, you can
- Design layouts in any scale and gauge,
- Use the predefined libraries for many popular brands of turnouts to help you get started easily,
- Add your own favorite components,
- Manipulate track much like you would with actual flex-track to modify, extend and join tracks and turnouts,
- Test your design by running trains, including picking them up and moving them with the mouse.
- At any point you can print the design in a scale of your choice. When printed in 1:1 scale the printout can be used as a template for laying the track to build your dream layout.
- Learning XTrackCAD is made easy with the extensive on-line help and demonstrations.
XTrackCAD is available for free on Windows, LINUX and MacOSX.

XTrkCad Wish List:
Ability to Lock Down an object so it is not moved by user or Connect Tracks command
Move Selected; Nudge (with arrow keys)
Move Selected; Constrain (move in X or Y only)
Move Selected; Center between...
Rotate Selected; Allign With (object or table edge or drawn line)
Parameter Files dialog; need Up/Down buttons to reorder list
Make (appropiate) toolbar button "stick" when double clicked
Option to cause pointer to become large crosshair in drawing area (selectable angle would be great)
Switch pointer to "pan" mode while holding a certian key
A command to reveal all unconnected endpoints would be handy
The ability to add multiple lines of text in one block would be nice
Finally, I understand this is a multiplatform program, but the ability to use Windows cut and paste into the notes fields is sorely missed.
Thanks to the development team for a quality product! - James
That said, I would like to add some sectional track that would be part of the Peco N Settrack range (specifically 3 radius curves) but not sure how to create them so they "stick".... Any hints would be greatly appreciated (or if someone can tell me how I edit the parameter files, that would work for me, too...)
